Facebook has implemented a new JavaScript client library that will allow Facebook apps to be displayed on any website.

The client library allows users to make Facebook API calls from any web site and create Ajax Facebook applications on that website.

According to Akamai, the traffic on its platform related to its social media customers saw significant growth over the past year.

Akamai supports dozens of leading social media destination sites, as well as key technologies and applications that form this global ecosystem, including Facebook, Friendster, Bebo, Metacafe, MySpace, RockYou, and Slide.

Facebook and Nokia Working On Mobile Deal

According to PaidContent, Nokia and Facebook are working on adding the social network on to Nokia handsets. The Facebook placement could be as prominent as the YouTube button on the main screen of iPhone, our sources indicate. Also, the deal involves giving Facebook a major slot within Nokia retail products’ displays.

Microsoft pushes businesses to implement IE7

Microsoft has warned corporate administrators that it will push a new version of Internet Explorer 7 their way next month, and it has posted guidelines on how to ward off the automatic update if admins want to keep the older IE6 browser on their companies’ machines.

The IE7 upgrade scheduled to roll out on February 12, 2008 and Microsoft said it would no longer require users to prove they owned a legitimate copy of Windows XP before they were allowed to download the newer browser. Microsoft explained that the move was prompted by security concerns.

Conduit Raises $8 Million

Conduit, a web community toolbar developer, has raised $8 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by Benchmark Capital.

Conduit’s on-demand community toolbar service allows any Web publisher to create a custom toolbar that delivers their content to users’ desktops.

The company claims more than 140,000 publishers.

Pirate Bay is charged by Swedish prosecutors

Pirate Bay, a file sharing hub containing over 150,000 movies, songs and other files, is charged by Swedish prosecutors.

Although it’s estimated that the site is making $60,000 a month in advertising revenue, Pirate Bay spokesman said the Pirate Bay has never made a profit, partly due to the cost of hardware maintenance .

The charges against The Pirate Bay’s operators are based on evidence collected in the 2006 raid.
